Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world; but be you transformed by the renovation of your minds: and discern you what is the good and acceptable and perfect pleasure of Elohim. (Romans 12:2 AENT)

How do we “discern” the “pleasure” of Elohim? How do we begin to know what gives Him pleasure? What kind of Wisdom do we need to know this? How do we obtain this Knowledge?

Answer: The Fear of YHWH.

The fear of YHWH is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. (Ps 111:10 AV)

The fear of YHWH is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Pr 1:7 AV)

The fear of YHWH is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy (Set Apart) is understanding. (Pr 9:10 AV)

Notice that in most English translations (which are from the Greek), the verse in Romans speaks of discerning the “will” of Elohim. That word is ok, in that doing His commandments is certainly according to His will. However it gets confused with a fatalist kind of Father-imagery, as if He dictates to us different levels of the bulls’ eye of His will, i.e. shall we go to college or get a job. However, as we read in the Aramaic English New Testament, the word “pleasure” is more suitable; it speaks toward what we can do to please Him.

Do we want to please Him? Do we actually LOVE Him?

And by this we will be sensible that we know him, if we keep his Commandments… He that says “I am in him” is bound to walk according to his halakha. My beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but the old Commandment which you had from the beginning; and the old Commandment is the Word which you have heard. (1 John 2:3,6&7 AENT)

If you love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15 AENT)

Halakha הלכה / How To Walk

“Halakha” in Hebrew, הלכה means “the way of walking.”

Halakha (הלכה) comes from the verb “lelekhet” ללכת which means “to go, to walk; to go ahead; to leave, to pass, to disappear; to follow.”

In Biblical lifestyle, Halakha הלכה means to base one’s life upon the written Word of Elohim.

In Judaism, however, Halakha הלכה refers to following traditions of men. Those traditions are often based upon the Word, but quite often conflict with the Word as well. According to tradition, if the tradition conflicts somehow with the Word, the tradition trumps the Word. At least, that’s what the tradition says!

In the verse above, however, we are not taught to follow the traditions of men. When we read that “Yeshua is our Halakha” this means that He shows us the way we must walk, according to the way He walked.

This is what it means to be a disciple: To walk as He walked.

Yeshua walked according to the Word. He is the Word (John 1). The Word is the same Word from the beginning (Genesis: “In the Beginning”):

My beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but the old Commandment which you had from the beginning; and the old Commandment is the Word which you have heard. (1 John 2:7 AENT pg.652)

What then is the Way in which we should walk ללכת?

Yeshua is the Way.

Yeshua is the Walking.

Yeshua is הלכה.

Y’shua said to him, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father except by me.” (John 14:6 AENT pg.280).

Secret Rapture?

Why did the world have to wait until the year 1830 to ever hear of the idea of the “secret rapture?”

How come Jesus didn’t return before the Chinese believers suffered persecution?

Could so many “Left Behind” books be wrong?

Taking the above articles into consideration, esp. concerning Lacunza, I really recommend prayerfully reading Duncan McDougall’s “Rapture of the Saints.” He certainly offers enough evidence to make you doubt this beloved doctrine for good:

On another note, while I don’t necessarily agree with Tim McHyde‘s articles on the rapture, I do find that his take on other prophetic subjects such as the return of Yeshua (Jesus) to be quite helpful in finding the way to truth.

Definition: Jerusalem Syndrome

A pattern of behavior where a person in Jerusalem “acts out” in socially inappropriate ways, such as accosting people in public, sometimes in “Biblical” clothing, while actually believing themselves to be Elijah, or The Messiah, or One of the Two Witnesses, or A Prophet, or other such improbable Biblical character. Not to be mistaken for true ministers sharing the Love of YHWH on the streets and byways of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem syndrome is a phenomenon aware of people, pilgrims, tourists who come to Jerusalem are so overwhelmed by the sense of holiness here that something happens to them. And certain fantasies, redemption fantasies of making the world a better place overcome them, and they believe they have a messianic mission which they must fulfill, which can cause problems. And this can happen sometimes to people who showed no sign of any sort of mental illness before this. And more often it will happen to people who have already been diagnosed and have had problems with their adjustment before coming to Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem syndrome is a group of mental phenomena involving the presence of either religiously themed obsessive ideas, delusions or other psychosis-like experiences that are triggered by a visit to the city of Jerusalem. Today’s Teaching

In today’s teaching we examine 1 Cor. 8 plus Colossians chapters 1 & 2. First we noted that Chapter 8 is on the topic of food sacrificed to idols, and has no bearing on the question of overall diet. The first two chapters of Colossians highlight that the Body of Mashiyach is the Kehilah (congregation) — and then we carried the conversation from there.

Before I read this AENT Bible, I never knew the Mark 7:19 issues. Apparently the phrase “by this Jesus declared all foods clean” is NOT in the earlier Greek manuscripts OR the Aramaic. It’s just added in there mysteriously. At best, it should be in the margin. But it’s in there in many of our English translations (and other languages) because it’s in some later Greek manuscripts. Consequently this phrase has been used for centuries as a proof text to claim that God changed dietary instructions in the “New Testament.”

It takes courage to investigate the question “have I been somewhat misled all this time?” But we are called to be like the Bereans of Acts 17:11 who “received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily whether those things were so.”

Readiness of mind: being prepared to receive the Truth, no matter the consequence or the personal inconvenience.

Searching the Scriptures: not being satisfied with the English or whatever translated language you read as a mother tongue – but searching, investigating, digging into the original languages.

In Titus 3:9 where the Greek says “law,” the Aramaic says “scribes.” Try reading that verse in your own Bible and substitute “scribes” back in there in place of “law” and you’ll see the different meaning that exists in the Aramaic. Yeshua always opposed the scribes and the Pharisees – and so does the epistle to Titus. Yet the Greek tries to make it seem as if any discussion regarding the Torah is superfluous and even heretical (v.10). I guess at least one of the Greek scribes took it personally – being criticized in the Epistles — as so often occurred in the Gospels (against Hebrew scribes). Well, he responded by doing the very thing Yeshua criticized – changing the Word.

To say that an Aramaic scribe must have copied the NT from the Greek, and changed “nomikos (law)” to “scribes (sapra)” is a bit ridiculous, don’t you think? Why would a scribe bring bad light upon himself in such a way?

Besides all this, many pastors and congregants are telling me that they just love the way the Aramaic English New Testament sounds when I read it out loud. It has a beautiful flow to it. The Aramaic vs. Greek primacy issue needs to be brought to the table and discussed, of course. But first we got to just read it prayerfully and in tune with the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit).

May Yeshua guide each one of you into more and more Truth.

Inviting the Holy Spirit to Germany

Just returned from Berlin, where the 100-year Berlin Declaration was reversed (Sept 15 1909) and the Holy Spirit is officially welcomed to Germany (Sept 15, 2009).

For over 12 hours, 500 congregants heard history about the Berlin Declaration to fully understand what happened, and why repentance is needed; the corporate body prayed aloud together, reading a scripted declaration renouncing the 1909 declaration, repenting for rejecting the move of the Holy Spirit, and instead welcoming the Holy Spirit to the nation. There were times of praying in small groups, and times of heartfelt worship in musical form. The presence of the LORD was certainly with us and many were witnesses.

Of course, it’s going to take alot more than key leaders with 500 people gathered to “officially” welcome the Holy Spirit into Germany. It’s going to take individuals bearing the fruits of the Spirit more and more in their lives (Gal. 5:22, Eph 5:9). It’s going to involve “bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2Co 10:5)

Yet, making vows and declarations does have significance. Just look at the original declaration 100 years ago (rejecting the Holy Spirit in Germany) and think about the implications for the whole world.

However, that 1909 declaration would have had little effect had it not been continuously reaffirmed by repetitive, consistent behavior.

The same is true of the new declaration. It’s a start; but without deliberate reinforcement it will be meaningless.
